Shipping Trainee

Job Overview:

Are you ready to launch your career in the shipping industry? Navigator Gas offers a 2-year Shipping Trainee Programme, starting 1 September 2026, combining hands-on experience with structured education.
As part of the programme, you will enrol in the Danish Shipping Education programme, attending courses in Maritime Law, Maritime Economics, Ship Design, Energy & Fuel, Logistics, and Supply Chain Management through a mix of in-person sessions and online webinars.

You will gain practical experience at our Gentofte office in the Commercial Operations team, working on Port Management, Bunker Procurement, Vessel Scheduling, and Contractual aspects. You will also rotate across Chartering, Ship Accounting, and Technical departments to build a comprehensive understanding of shipping operations.

Throughout the programme, you will have a dedicated mentor to support your development and spend a period of time in one of our offices abroad, gaining international exposure.

During Your Theoretical Training, You Will Have the Opportunity to:

  • Actively participate in discussions, ask questions, and contribute to group activities or presentations.
  • Reflect on your development, identify strengths and areas for improvement, and seek guidance when needed.
  • Show initiative in learning by exploring additional resources and pursuing opportunities to enhance your skills beyond the training programme.

The theoretical courses will be delivered by the Danish Shipping Academy as part of the Danish Shipping Education programme. More information about the theoretical training is available here. Please note that the information available online refers to the current programme; however, it provides a good overview of the topics typically covered.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree or secondary education (e.g., STX, HHX, or equivalent) combined with relevant practical experience.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a genuine desire to contribute to a positive, collaborative work environment.
  • Comfort and adaptability in a dynamic and changing environment.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop new skills.
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
